Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information Bettie ("we," "us") collects when you use gobettie.com (the "Service"), and how we use and protect it.

1. Information we collect

Account information: your email address, your chosen Bettie name (your public username), and your date of birth (used only to confirm you're 18 or older).

Optional phone number: if you turn on text alerts, we store your phone number so we can send you budget and limit notifications.

Interests: the topics you choose to personalize your feed.

Activity: your picks, comments, follows, points balance, and similar in-game activity.

We don't ask for sensitive personal information beyond the above, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

2. How we use your information

To operate the game (create your account, run picks and resolutions, keep your balance), personalize your feed from your interests, send the text alerts you opt into, prevent cheating and abuse, and improve the Service.

3. How your information is stored and shared

We store data with third-party providers that process it on our behalf: Supabase (database and authentication), Vercel (application hosting), and Textbelt (sending SMS alerts, only if you provide a phone number). We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for advertising. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the Service and its users.

4. Cookies and local storage

We use your browser's local storage to keep you signed in. We don't use third-party advertising cookies.

5. Data retention and deletion

We keep your information while your account is active. You can ask us to delete your account and associated personal data at any time by emailing hello@gobettie.com. We'll delete it, except for limited records we may need to keep to comply with the law or prevent abuse.

6. Your choices

You can edit your interests and Bettie name in your profile, turn off text alerts by removing your phone number, and request deletion as described above.

7. Security

We use reasonable measures to protect your information, but no system is perfectly secure and we can't guarantee absolute security.

8. Children

Bettie is for adults 18 and over and is not directed to children. If you believe someone under 18 has provided us information, please contact us and we'll remove it.

9. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We'll change the date above and, where appropriate, let you know.
